ABOUT
Just before lockdown in March 2020, members of Interface Arts - a County Durham-based art group were discussing how they could keep in touch creatively during the pandemic.
One of their members, Eleanor Matthews, suggested Post Art – a project where artists create original, postcard-sized artworks and send them to other artists and those needing a morale-boost during the COVID-19 crisis. This website shows the result of the collaboration, which expanded to include members from other art groups including Little Green Hut and Spectrum Studios in Seaham, as well as artists from further afield.

On this website we have collected together the fantastic collections of original postcard-sized art which each member of the project received during the pandemic. For each card, shown here, that we sent to each other, we also sent a card to someone who needed cheering up - friends, neighbours, carers, shopkeepers, bin men.

Together we have sent over 1000 handmade cards!

Photography for this online exhibition was done by Meryl Mathieson and Eleanor Matthews in Dec 2020. It took place at Spectrum Studios, Seaham where some of the postcard artists have studios. Thanks to Spectrum and Exhibit 'A'rt - whose hanging system we used for the cards.
Some artists have included work for sale alongside their postcard collections - you can see and buy this here.
